INDIANA MUSHROOMS
April 4, 2009
New page on Fairy Ring Mushrooms added.

A
wasp fungus, possibly a Hymenostilbe species, and
Chroogomphus ochraceus have been added to Gallery
Two.

Agaricus porphyrocephalus added to Gallery Four.

Postia caesia and the blue variety of Trametes versicolor
have been added to Polypore Mushrooms.


Pictured at right are some early springtime mushrooms
found in Indiana:  the
Scarlet Cup, the Devil's Urn and
Morel Mushrooms.

Several mushrooms found this spring while morel hunting
have been added to Gallery Two:  
Disciotis venosa,
Entoloma vernum and Psathyrella candolleana.

Lentinellus ursinus and Megacollybia platyphylla have been
added to Gallery Three.

New pictures added:
Calvatia gigantea (bottom)
Polyporus arcularius (top)
Tremella mesenterica (top)



At right are some Galerina mushrooms peeking from a hole
in a log, an early coral mushroom found May 19th and
some late morels found May 16th in Hammond, Indiana,
Lake County.

Pluteus admirabilis, Pluteus flavofuligineus and Pluteus
pellitus have been added to Pluteus Genus.

Hydnellum concrescens, Hydnellum pineticola, Hydnellum
spongiosipes (Velvet Tooth) have been added to Toothed
Mushrooms.

Clavulinopsis fusiformis (Spindle Shaped Coral) and
Clavulinopsis laeticolor (Fairy Fingers) have been added to
Coral and Club Mushrooms.

Lactarius subvernalis var. cokeri has been added to Milk Cap
Mushrooms.

Tricholoma sejunctum added to Gallery Two along with two
earth tongues:
Geoglossum difforme (Black Earth Tongue),
Trichoglossum walteri (Hairy Black Earth Tongue).

At right are a pink club mushroom (Clavariadelphus), a
purple cort and some red Russula mushrooms.

Berkeley's Polypore (Bondarzewia berkeleyi) and the
Cauliflower Mushroom (Sparassis crispa) added to Polypore
Mushrooms.

Boletus longicurvipes and Boletus morrisii added to Boletes
and Others page.

A fairy finger fungus,
Clavulinopsis corniculata added to Coral
and Club Mushrooms.

Chromosera cyanophylla added to Gallery Three.

Cooking method for giant puffball.
