Paragalactinia succosa |
Formerly Peziza succosa. Growing from moss covered soil that included woody debris. Oak and pine in the area. This collection exhibited an inner cup with gray/brown to tanish color tones, at times faint purple tints; smooth. Outer cup is off-white, slightly roughened; staining and ageing a yellow to rusty red. Very small stem at point of attachment, often with white mycelium. |
Spores are covered with small, abundant warts. Most with a single oil droplet. |
Asci (spore producing cells that line the inner surface of this cup fungus) stain blue with iodine. |
